  1. Reported Attack Page & My Blog’s Theme

    May 4, 2012 by Kayce

This blog was recently fixed by my blog host because it was reported as an attack page and has been blocked based on my security preferences. According to the message which was being displayed on my blog, attack pages try to install programs that steals private information, use your computer to attack others, or damage your system. Some attack pages intentionally distribute harmful software, but many are compromised without the knowledge or permission of their owners.

Well, there’s actually a malicious code in my blog’s theme so my blog host needs to delete the theme. My problem is the theme that I used since it was a personalized theme made by my blogger friend. I payed her in order to personalize the theme that I want for this blog. Too bad I can’t use it anymore. :( I am now struggling to find a new theme again and I’m having a hard time to find the best free WordPress theme for my gadget/technology blog. Can you help me find the most updated themes for WordPress my friends? Your help is very much appreciated. Thanks!

  2. Temporarily Disconnected

    March 15, 2012 by Kayce

Finally, after more than two weeks of patiently waiting, our DSL internet from PLDT just got back yesterday. Now I am loaded with lots of pending tasks and assignments and I have a lot of things to blog about. Grrrr… I just hate that I couldn’t go online just because I don’t have an internet connection.

Well, it all started when they temporarily disconnect us because we were unable to pay our bills. They said their due date is every 27th of the month and we just paid on the 29th. Their system automatically detected that we were unable to pay on the said due date. Okay it may be our fault but hey,  how we were able to know our unpaid bills were in fact we did not received any bills, notice or call!?

We were also unlucky since during that time, they’re having a technical problem with their main line and it took them almost a week  in restoring the internet that’s why it took us more than two weeks before they finally reconnect our line. Haaayz! I’m glad that I am now back online. I just hope that there will be no more problems regarding my internet connection.

  3. Web Hosting for WordPress

    October 13, 2011 by Kayce

I was browsing my website and double checking a couple of posts yesterday when I realized that I’ve been handling WordPress for almost 4 years now. And ever since, I was happy with it. So far, I didn’t have problems at all with the installations, maintenance and version updates. As of today, I updated my WordPress programs only twice. And both installations were a breeze. I would say using WordPress was the best decision I’ve ever made. I have to admit, I was hesitant in changing a platform since I didn’t know how stable WordPress was 4 years ago, but now, I’m very glad I made that shift.

If you are also using WordPress as your website platform, there is a webhosting company that offers services to websites that are in WordPress. You might want to check it out. It’s called WP Engine. There is a WP Engine Review that I came across the other day which gives me all the details that I need. Offering services to just one niche makes them focus only on one thing – WordPress. Their people will be trained thoroughly and are now reaping the rewards since I’ve read that they are currently hosting 0.0006% of the 50 million WordPress blogs (roughly 3,000). Yes, that’s a LOT! It only goes to show that their clients are happy with their web hosting services and are sticking with them after all those years. Maybe I should consider getting them too. I’m sure I won’t regret it.

  4. Using USB 3G Mobile Internet

    September 20, 2011 by Kayce

Ive got three USB  3G mobile  internet here but as of now I’m using Smart BRO postpaid plug it. The other SmartBRO was a prepaid one and also my Globe Tattoo.  What’s the best thing about this broadband internet is that it allows us to surf the internet anywhere we go as long as we have our laptop or notebook.

We can carry this small, palm-sized device  with us wherever we go. And anytime I need to surf,  I just plug it into the USB port of my PC, and  viola! I get connected in a flash. With regards to its connection, the  3G speed depends on the area. With SmartBRO, the speed would go as fast as 2 mbps sometimes, but it would get slower at times at 300 kbps.

The speed was okay to surf the internet, check emails and view images, but I think for this speed, you would not be able to download large files because it would take longer. It was much slower than a broadband connection. I think the speed would be something like in wifi hotspots where the speed would get fast and slow sometimes, so I think I can say it is pretty okay since I don’t download a lot.

In a sense it can be a good source of a quick internet connection for me in case I travel. In other words, if you want a quick internet connection anywhere you go, just plug the device into your laptop and you’re set. It may not be the best mobile broadband internet but it is okay and is pretty good in my opinion. The idea of being able to connect to the internet anywhere is appealing to freelancers and to people who are always on the go like me.

  5. Client PC’s for Our I-Cafe

We originally set up our net cafe for chat users before way back 7 years ago and that includes microsoft office for encoding and printing purposes. And then we also started buying gaming PC’s for the gamers as shown in the photo. So what spec do you need for a gaming PC these days? Ours are Dual Core with 2gb of ram, 250gb hard drive, 512mb GFX card. We have also found that gaming wise things like Call of duty, DOTA, counter-strike, RF Online and RAN Online are all their favourites. We bought this complete set of Gaming PC at around P17,000.

You can try to budget P20,000 to P25,000 per PC.  Do not scrimp out on memory, processing power or video cards. The logic here is that  even if you save a few bucks but your computers will be trash in less than a year and  you should have a faster PC than your competitors. And if you can get LCD monitors for all computers, then do so. The cost savings on electricity will more than pay for itself.

And if you’re a techie, you can probably do the wiring and the setup of the routers and switches yourself. That’s what my hubby is doing here. But if you can’t, there are professionals who can do it for you. If you can’t find one in your place, ask the tech guy at the PC shop where you bought your hardware if he can do a little moonlighting for your new shop.
